With all the trestles you decide what length of timber is required. You can support the full width or length of a 8ft x 4ft sheet of ply or MDF safely. This makes working on your own possible.

All trestles are designed to take standard ‘off the shelf’ timber available from most DIY and timber suppliers. Depending on the quality of the timber you may have to plane the edges to ensure an easy fit.

Avoid timber with knots, especially if they are towards the middle. For the ultimate trestle you may wish to use hardwood and machine it to size. Timber may require redressing if it becomes wet.
